Link the right inventory item to its shop listing

Connect the specific equipment item to its shop product so the description and stock record refer to the same thing.

Two boards can share a model and size but differ in condition. The shop listing therefore needs to point to the right item. This guide covers that link; the resale preparation guide covers condition, photos and the pricing decision.

Distinguish the model, item and shop product

The model describes the design. The inventory item identifies a particular piece of equipment with its identifier, location and recorded use. The shop product is the offer a buyer sees.

Match the item or serial number on the equipment to its inventory record. Then check the link to the shop product. A suitable product photograph alone does not establish that the correct item is linked.

Compare the description with the history

Use only details belonging to that item. Check size, included accessories, recorded condition and available usage history. Missing records remain open questions to check against the equipment before sale.

Compare the inventory record and customer view before publishing. Then check that the description matches the available item.

Plan its transition out of the school fleet

Check upcoming course or rental assignments and agree when the equipment should stop being available to the operation. The responsible person maintains the sale and inventory status through the supported workflow.

See shop and inventory for product capabilities. For decisions across the whole fleet, use the pre-season equipment review.
