Marketplace and direct bookings: evaluate the channel mix

Compare acquisition cost, customer access and operational work before deciding which channel to expand.

A marketplace may help new guests discover a school. A direct booking route presents the school's own offer under its own brand. The right mix depends on demand, costs and the work each channel creates, rather than a rule that one channel is always better.

Check the actual channel agreement

For each marketplace, record fees, payment timing, cancellation handling, customer information available to the school and rules for later communication. These terms vary. Do not assume that every marketplace provides the same data or restricts the same activities.

Also check how bookings and availability reach the school's operational plan. If staff must enter them manually, include that work in the comparison. A platform account does not by itself prove that a particular marketplace integration exists.

Calculate direct-booking costs fairly

Direct bookings can still incur payment, platform, website and acquisition costs. Include staff time spent maintaining content and answering questions. Compare the same booking value and period across channels so that a percentage fee is not being weighed against an incomplete direct-cost figure.

TIDEFORCE supports the school's branded direct booking and the operational records behind it. Current platform fees are on the pricing page; website creation and optional synchronization or analytics services are separate.

Protect the guest handover

Whatever the source, the team needs the correct participant information, time, payment state and delivery plan. Agree which record is authoritative and how changes are reflected. Confirm any proposed external integration before relying on automatic synchronization.

A direct customer relationship still carries responsibilities for data use and communication. It does not mean unrestricted marketing permission or ownership of the person.

Decide from your own bookings

Review which channels bring suitable guests, what those bookings cost and how often staff must resolve exceptions. A small, measured channel experiment is more useful than switching everything based on a general claim.

Use the channel comparison questions and the direct-booking playbook to plan that review.
