Why mobile navigation needs a different entry point

On desktop, a command-style search already reduces menu-hunting. On mobile, that benefit is even more valuable because the screen is smaller and switching between surfaces costs more attention.

That is why moving search onto the mobile home screen matters more than it might sound from a simple release note.

What changed in TIDEFORCE

• A dedicated search button now opens Global Search on mobile for trainee-and-above roles.
• The QR scanner moved into the search bar so users can pivot between typing and scanning from the same place.
• Pages, actions and saved views render immediately while slower remote scopes continue loading.
• People rank more strongly, multi-word matching improved and more keyword aliases are supported.
• Search results now hide scopes the current user should not access.
• The old Book label has been renamed to Services, while both terms remain searchable.

The scanner is more useful when it is inside search

A separate QR button creates a split mental model: scan here, search there. Putting the scanner inside Global Search creates one mobile entry point for both actions instead.

That is especially practical for teams who alternate between searching for a guest and scanning a wristband or code in the same moment.

Speed and access control both matter

A search field feels broken when it stays empty while remote scopes catch up. That is why local pages, actions and views now appear immediately instead of waiting for everything else.

At the same time, users should not see search scopes they cannot open anyway. Hiding them reduces noise and makes the search feel more intentional.

What this changes for teams

For office and instructor workflows, mobile search becomes a faster starting point for navigation, guest lookup and QR scanning. For customers, the personal QR entry stays separate instead of being merged into the team search surface.

How to use it

1. Open the Tideforce app on your phone.
2. Tap the new search icon in the top-right area of the home screen.
3. Search for a person, page, booking or action, or tap the scanner icon inside the search bar.
4. On desktop, continue to use Cmd+K or Ctrl+K for the same Global Search system.
