Customer Tiers That Give Your Team Loyalty Context

A customer tier helps a school recognise who is booking again, who deserves special attention and where loyalty context should not live only in someone’s memory. A repeat guest relationship is valuable long before a formal loyalty program exists. But in many schools, that context stays trapped in someone’s memory, an improvised spreadsheet or a comment field no one sees at the right moment.

Why loyalty context often stays informal

A repeat guest relationship is valuable long before a formal loyalty program exists. But in many schools, that context stays trapped in someone’s memory, an improvised spreadsheet or a comment field no one sees at the right moment.

A visible tier signal does not replace judgement. It gives the team a faster starting point.

What Customer Tiers add inside TIDEFORCE

  • A configurable tier badge appears in the People table.
  • The school chooses the tier names, colours, icons and thresholds.
  • Tier assignment can be based on lifetime bookings, lifetime payments or both.
  • Managers can override the automatic tier for specific guests.
  • A clear “Set tier” state removes the empty-cell problem for new guests or disabled setups.

Automatic by default, manual when it matters

The default model is simple: Tideforce recomputes the tier when the customer’s booking or payment history changes. That keeps the visible loyalty signal aligned with what has actually happened over time.

Regulars know your base like home — recognising them starts with visible context.

But real schools still need exceptions. That is why managers can lock in a manual tier for VIP guests, partners, sponsored riders or other cases where a purely automatic threshold is not enough.

Configuration without a separate loyalty system

Under Administration -> Customer Tier Settings, the school can choose whether tiers are enabled, how many tiers to use and which thresholds should define them.

This keeps the feature useful even when two schools have very different repeat-booking patterns.

Where this helps the team today

For the front desk, a tier badge is a fast context clue. For office managers, it reduces the need for side lists. For owners, it creates a simpler view of where loyalty is concentrated.

The feature is useful today even before any future perk or promotion logic is attached to it.

How to start using it

  1. Open Administration -> Customer Tier Settings.
  2. Enable tiers and review the default levels or rename them to fit your school.
  3. Set the minimum booking and payment thresholds that make sense for your customer base.
  4. Open People and review the new badges. Use the badge dropdown for manual overrides where needed.
Important: the tier signal is live now, but tier-based discounts, campaigns and other perk automation are still follow-on work rather than part of this release.

Why this matters for outdoor sports schools

TIDEFORCE is the Commerce & Operations Platform for Outdoor Sports Schools, so even a narrow workflow improvement matters when it removes friction inside the connected daily operation. In this case, Customer Tiers improves a recurring moment in how a school team works with guests, bookings, payments or rentals without inventing a bigger product story than the feature actually supports.

Frequently asked questions
01

What decides a customer’s tier?

+

The school configures the thresholds. Tideforce can evaluate lifetime bookings, lifetime payments or both when deciding which tier a customer has reached.

02

Can a manager override the automatic tier?

+

Yes. Managers can manually assign a tier and keep that manual choice in place until they switch it back to Auto.

03

Where do teams see the tier?

+

The badge appears directly in the People table so the context is visible where teams already work with customer records.

04

What happens if a guest has no tier yet?

+

Managers see a clear “Set tier” chip instead of an empty state, so classifying the guest still takes one click.

05

Are loyalty perks and discounts part of this release?

+

No. The live release is the tiering and manual override foundation. Tier-based perks and campaigns remain future work.
